Aaron Donaghy is an educational professional has spent years developing a leadership class and curriculum to provide resources that ensures young people can start on the path towards their goals. It is his mission to inspire the next generation of students to do the impossible by showing them that what they wish to accomplish in the world is well within their reach.

Aaron Donaghy realizes that so many facets of our futures are determined in the very beginning, and it can be almost impossible for someone to change their trajectory alone if they have a difficult start. Donaghy believes that children are privy to this, as it is apparent even in children’s games where the winner is often who performs the best early on while others must try incredibly hard to catch up. Monopoly is cited by Aaron Donaghy as a prime example of how the first spin determines much of how the game will play out thereafter. As an educational professional with a background in science, Aaron Donaghy has a passion for breaking down how this formula could be different if we wanted it to be. If the system were testing a hypothesis for how to guide young people within our communities to their personal versions of success, it would be determined by now that the current framework does not truly work for most.

Part of the issue, according to Donaghy, is that we tend to rank individuals by arbitrary metrics that set them up for success or failure at a young age. Aaron Donaghy acknowledges that not enough people see an issue with this glaring hole within our infrastructure. Combining his science background with twenty years of experience and research in personal development, Aaron Donaghy created the curriculum for GO Effect, meant to inspire leaders by showing them that they can achieve what they set their mind to. The idea is show them that the power to change the world and do the impossible exists on an individual level.

Go Effect ultimately shows that actions that may be perceived by some as small in the grand scheme of things can have an immense impact on others and the trajectory of the future. This ideology borrows from Edward Lorenz’s Butterfly Effect, where a small change such as a butterfly flapping its wings leads to large changes on the other side of the world. Aaron Donaghy works to show how, when we change the antiquated system that marks them for “success” or “failure”, a plan for how they can develop their future and reach their goals becomes clear quickly. Aaron Donaghy and GO’s objective is to provide individuals with the resources that empower them to make key decisions for themselves. This is something that the current system does not properly facilitate.

Aaron Donaghy knows that now, more than ever, young people are looking to us to show them that they can lead a life that they are proud of. Our duty is to provide them with the resources that they require to internalize this and work towards their idea of success with actionable steps.
